The Roman Fort Saalburg offers public walking tours alongside the World Cultural Heritage Limes. The museum’s staff especially familiar with details of the past takes you to former Roman Empire´s border, illustrates the past and archaeology and updates you on current research projects. The walk includes a guided tour through the Roman Fort Saalburg.

Route: Ancient remains of the former village in front of the fort – Entrenchments, the first facilities at the Saalburg pass – Limes Reconstructions, Watch Tower Ruins – Herzberg – Saalburg.

From Sandplacken to Saalburg on July 22nd 2007
From 10:30am – 03:30pm.
Distance: about 6,5 km
Starting Point: Sandplacken, on the street from Oberursel in direction to Feldberg/Schmitten at Café Tannenheim
Bus Routes 503, 505 and 511 from Oberursel-Hohemark (Terminal Station U 3)
Route: Ancient Remains of Watch Towers and Smaller Forts – Old Hunting Hut and Heidenstock – Rubble Ramparts of the Dry Walls - Saalburg.

After the walk and the lunch break a guided tour through Roman Fort Saalburg follows. Sturdy footwear recommended. Fees: 15 Euro incl. entrance fee and guided tour. Limes Walks for groups can also be arranged on other dates.
