Description
villa rustica has been establishes as part of the regional park Rhein-Main. It is located between the settlement and the open meadow. Villa rustica refers to a Roman manor that has been excavated around the turn of the century. The facility’s main theme involves Roman history of the area’s settlement.
Characteristics
There are four areas on the building’s ground plan:
The Middle
In a labyrinth relating to Roman mosaics, visitors almost accidentally hit upon special plates illustrating findings dating back to villa rustica´s time. Before exiting the labyrinth a simple plebeian guards the main house alongside Cesar, a decurion, a centurion and a legionnaire.
The Squares
Roman Games
Assuming that there used to be kitchen, storage and bathing rooms the area has been structured into terraces. Play an antique board games according to Roman models or be a constructor operating the sand crane and paddle wheel in the sandy areas.
Gladiator Arena
Seat elements invite you to watch all actions from the middle: a movable slewable fly wheel promotes the players´ interactions.
Limes Tower
Following the Limes the square makes for conquering and defense plays: the tower’s climbing features are the center of adventure games. Enjoy the lookout to the maze and its sculptures from the platform.
